Organic-inorganic hybrids that combine the reversible nature of electrostatic interactions present in ionic systems with reinforcement ability nanoparticles nanocomposites have potential to revolutionize a wide spectrum technologies. However, prediction their service lifetime under photooxidative conditions has remained elusive. In this paper, accelerated environmental ageing hybrid materials made by combining imidazolium-functionalized poly(ethylene glycol)-based polyurethane (im-PU) and surface-modified sulfonate silica (SiO2-SO3H) is addressed. Since resulting are dynamic, contribution aims elucidate temporal behavior precisely distinguish addition photochemical behavior. Although SiO2-SO3H within im-PU matrix led faster degradation, imidazolium-sulfonate crosslinks thought be sustained conditions. The results further suggest molecular weight loss ductile-to-brittle transition for atmospheric attributed severe chain scissions into backbone presence nanoparticles. Overall, investigation suggests responsible prodegradant effect rather than system. work thus provides deeper understanding about crucial role incorporation dynamic linkages during can aid future design use these systems.
